Light Summer Color Palette
By the Skintonic team · SKINTONIC LLC · Updated
Light Summers have light, cool, gentle coloring. Hair is often ash blond or light ash brown, skin is fair with a pink or neutral undertone, and eyes are light blue, gray or soft green. Soft cool colors make you look fresh. Strong, warm or dark colors overwhelm you. The Light Summer color palette stays cool and gentle, with the softness your coloring already has.
You are likely a Light Summer if:
- Your natural hair is light and ashy, without strong golden tones.
- Your skin is fair and leans pink or neutral; you may burn before you tan.
- Your eyes are light: blue, gray-blue, gray-green or soft hazel.
- Black near your face looks harsh and heavy.
- Silver looks more natural on you than yellow gold.
What a Light Summer looks like
Your coloring is light and cool, with low contrast. Nothing about it is sharp or loud. That is why soft, cool colors with a lot of light in them suit you so well: they match your natural level instead of fighting it.
Warm colors like orange and mustard bring out yellow in your skin. Dark colors like black create too much contrast. The right colors make your skin look clear and even.

Three easy outfits
Weekend
A Cornflower Blue t-shirt or sweater with light gray jeans or chinos and white sneakers. Calm, cool and easy.
Smart casual
A Slate Blue shirt with a dove gray jacket and soft navy trousers. All cool, all soft, and the blues bring out light eyes.
Going out
A Rose or Orchid top with a soft charcoal or gray jacket and silver jewelry. Gentle color with enough depth to feel dressed up.
Colors that work against you
Avoid colors that are warm, heavy or loud. Orange, rust, mustard and golden yellow clash with your cool undertone. Bright warm red is too intense. Black is too harsh for light, soft coloring.
If you want a dark color, soft navy or soft charcoal does the same job as black without the harshness.
Light Summer or Light Spring?
Both are light and low in contrast. The difference is undertone. Light Summer is cool and slightly pink; Light Spring is warm and golden.
Hold powder pink and peach under your chin in daylight. If pink makes you look healthier, lean Light Summer. If peach does, lean Light Spring.
Light Summer or Cool Summer?
Both are cool. Cool Summer has more depth and can carry stronger cool colors like raspberry and blueberry. Light Summer is lighter overall. If medium-deep cool colors look heavy on you, you are more likely a Light Summer.
Quick tips
